CCAA Performance Committee Survey

Some thoughts I hold or others have shared so far before we consider the following questions:

  1. I would like to see us streamline how we are awarding points based on not only training that goes into obtaining the points but also fairness of evaluations. I would recommend we consider reducing point values for titles that don’t require more than one pass/judge and or changing if we call them sport/other points (example - trick dog only requires one person to sign off and there’s very little monitoring of honesty/it’s relatively easy to become a CGC/trick dog judge in recent years vs 3 passes on most titles such as rally, obedience, or even scent work)

  2. Discussion of reducing rally points or conversely increasing obedience points or both

  3. Leveling the playing field on scent work titles to not be so disproportionately high for entry level titles and overly low for higher level titles. Also consideration for a detective title to be more in line with “championship” titles of other sports, though due to AKC designation as a “performance sport” not “companion sport” they will not allow an official “championship” designation.

  4. Consideration of where breakpoints fall for Working Dog Novice/Advanced Titles and how those can be achieved with the maltitude of health and temperament titles with minimal actual “sport” work involved to achieve these

  5. Consideration of changing requirements for meeting the Working Dog Excellent Title and/or providing more substantial awards for obtaining our highest level working title (at this time)

Survey in order of current point schedule:

I asked for a name just so I can elucidate further input if I don’t understand what you mean, I will create a composite result to share so that no one feels they can’t provide honest feedback. If you really do not want to list your name it is not required. Thanks -Jenn
